Hi, I’m Melissa.
I’m an experience and content designer who uses data and insights to make things easier for people to use.
Focusing on the user’s needs and requirements, I work with technical partners to build products, services, and experiences that reduce friction while enabling change.
Currently, I support the Centers for Medicaid and CHIP Services (CMCS) as the content lead for the digital transformation of a complex financial application used by state and territory Medicaid finance officers.
Prior to shifting to civic tech, I worked with B2B and B2G companies, non-profit organizations, and causes to create better experiences and increase engagement with their audiences. Be sure to check out my portfolio.
An area of passion is improving workplace culture and employee retention by applying information and instructional design principles and best practices.
I’m an avid adopter of methodologies that improve processes and make people happier.
The foundation of my career is rooted in communication for financial services, which provided an enduring education and understanding of highly complex and regulated environments.
I recently completed a rigorous program through the University of Maryland to earn the designation of Master Gardener, volunteer community gardening experts who provide resources and training to empower their communities’ greening efforts.
In my spare time, I’m raising three children to be good humans, growing fruits and vegetables in our urban garden, and looking for ways to make Baltimore a better place for all.
